WATER

An economic and environmental
challenge

1

1 BILLION CUBIC METRES OF WATER*
LOST EVERY YEAR IN FRANCE

*SOURCE ONEMA. NOVEMBRE 2014

No less than ¼ of the drinking water produced is discharged directly into the ground via the distribution network. By requiring local authorities to take action on their installations and on the preservation of their resources, the Grenelle Environment Round Table enabled all water stakeholders to become aware of the progress that is still to be achieved.

To limit losses, there are 2 main solutions:

Search for leaks and renew networks

Currently, water leak detection solutions are either complex, tedious to operate and maintain or insufficiently accurate to be effective: insufficient signal quality, need for constant cleanliness of network elements, heavy work for installation, licensing and installation of radio communications issues, long-term environmental sensor degradation, time consuming analysis of collected data, etc.

However, municipalities now have a duty and even an obligation to implement water conservation and loss management plans, including leakage management.

REGULATORY OBLIGATIONS
The law of 12 July 2010

Competent local authorities are now required to provide information on a GIS: Geographical Information System, indicating the precise inventory of their water production and transport facilities. They must also implement their action plans to preserve water resources or risk seeing their environmental tax double.

THE SENTINEL® SOLUTION

A proven solution

Bayard has chosen to integrate the proven technology of its Canadian partner Echologics on top of fire hydrants and to offer the SENTINEL® fixed leak detection solution combining acoustic detection and signal processing algorithms that are unmatched to date.

Continuous efficiency

The SENTINEL® Solution is continuously efficient thanks to its patented sensor, its rigid mechanical fixing on networks via the hydrant, its signal processing algorithms combining prelocation and acoustic correlation as well as its GPRS/3G communication quality at 1m above the ground.

Easy to use

In addition, its very simple installation on hydrants ensures total security for field operators and the installation software on smartphones or tablets allows very quick deployment without risk of error.

SENTINEL®'s modular and waterproof design ensures a long service life and easy maintenance.
